Second week: September Teacher Development, especially for trained, experienced EFL teachers
2) The September 6th Workshop, following our tradition of bringing experts from other fields to support our language teaching.

COURSE PROGRAM
FIRST WEEK: INTRODUCTION IN TEFL - THE TEACHER'S BASIC TOOLS
Aug. 31:: "FIRST DAYS OF CLASS & CLASS MANAGEMENT"
The teacher as manager within the classroom. Activities and techniques to use the first days of
Sept. 1: "LESSON PLANNING"
Efficient lesson planning makes teaching much more effective and stimulating to both teacher
and student.
Sept. 2: "USING & PREPARING VISUALS"
What are they? How to find and/or make visuals and how to use them to teach creatively and
effectively.
Sept. 3: "CREATIVE GRAMMAR PRACTICE & DRILLING"
Demonstrations and workshops on ways of presenting new structures in class and a discussion
of various drills.
Sept. 4: "THE FOUR-STAGES WORKSHOP"
A step-by-step demonstration, lesson planning, evaluation and feedback workshop. (Active
participation by all attending.)
Sept. 5: "ADAPTING THE COURSEBOOK"
Guidelines for evaluating coursebooks and assessing students' needs, adapting coursebook
material and creating supplementary exercises.
SECOND WEEK: SEPTEMBER TEACHER DEVELOPMENT SEMINARS
Sept. 7: “Grammar Galore”
Bring a copy of a grammar exercise book you have been OR will be teaching. Our
workshops will be designed to adapt a variety of written grammar exercises into
communicative grammar activities. All in the spirit of aiding our learners to become both
fluent and accurate users of English!
Sept. 8: “Challenging & Imaginative Activities for Young Learners 7 – 11”
Four hours of games, songs, short sketches, speaking activities, materials development
for children who need empowerment, development of their Learning Styles and MIs.
Special attention will be paid to children with learning difficulties.
Sept. 9: “Good Listeners Make Good Speakers”
Listening practice, "training the ear", for professionals who may be able to communicate
in English, but who wish to advance their status on the job. Ideas for practice activities
for telephoning, note taking and fine-tuning communication skills. Also, tips on public
speaking and presentation skills.
