Good fiction writers and film producers know that the first few pages of their novel set the tone for what it is to follow.
The same is true for a lesson. If students like the beginning of a lesson, they are more likely to be enthusiastic the rest of the lesson.

1. What do you and the person next to you do in the morning? Are your mornings different?
2. What do you like to eat? What can you cook? Describe how you cook it.

4. How did you spend your last birthday? What did you wear? How would you like to spend your next birthday? Why?
5. Tell your partner about the last film you saw. Was it a good or bad film. Explain why.
6. If you could buy your own dream apartment tomorrow, what would it be like?
7. What was on the news yesterday evening or this morning? What, for you, were the most important items of news? Why?
8. Imagine you are the head teachers in a school What are the ten most important subjects that should be taught. Why?
9. You are going to have an interview with the mayor. What changes would you like him or her to make to your community?
10. A perfume company wants to sell a new men’s perfume and a new women’s perfume. Find good names for it.
